BORN FROM EXPERIENCE. BUILT WITH PURPOSE.

The Danger Shouldn't Follow Them Home

When the flames are out, firefighters still face an invisible threat—dangerous toxins that cling to their gear, skin, and equipment. The Decon Project helps reduce exposure to those carcinogens by equipping fire departments with the tools, supplies, and proven methods to safely decontaminate after every call.

Our Mission

At The Decon Project, we’re dedicated to ensuring that no firefighter has to choose between serving their community and safeguarding their health. Through evidence-based decontamination practices, early detection programs, and essential supplies, we’re helping reduce cancer risks in the fire service—so every firefighter can go home safe and stay healthy for years to come.

BORN FROM EXPERIENCE. BUILT WITH PURPOSE.

Founded by Patrick Long, a firefighter with over a decade of service in Southeast Georgia, The Decon Project began with a deeply personal mission.

In February 2025, Patrick was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma. After six rounds of chemotherapy, he is now grateful to be cancer free—but his fight didn’t end there.

Unsure whether his cancer was linked to the job, Patrick knew one thing for certain: no firefighter should have to face what he did. His experience ignited a new flame—a drive to help his brothers and sisters in the fire service reduce their cancer risk and stay healthy for years to come.

I can’t change what happened to me, but I can help make sure it doesn’t happen to someone else.

WHEN THE FIRES OUT, OUR WORK BEGINS

Firefighters face hidden dangers long after the flames are gone. At The Decon Project, we equip fire departments with the tools and evidence-based methods they need to safely decontaminate and detect potential health risks early—helping reduce cancer risk and protect those who protect us.

Comprehensive Early Detection Health Screening

Advanced diagnostic screenings designed to identify early signs of cancer and other health issues, so treatment can begin as soon as possible.

Sauna Detox Program

Research shows that spending 15–25 minutes in a sauna after firefighting or exposure to hazardous materials helps the body release toxins through sweat, reducing the buildup of harmful contaminants.

Flame Natural Decon Soap

A scientifically tested and proven soap formulated to remove carcinogens, toxic industrial chemicals, and other contaminants. Its proprietary blend of activated charcoal captures and eliminates harmful particles of all sizes—helping firefighters truly clean their skin after the job is done.

The Hidden Threat Facing Firefighters

Firefighters are more than 9% more likely to develop cancer and 14% more likely to die from it than the general population.

Why? Cancer-causing toxins linger on gear, skin, and equipment long after the fire is out, and the risks add up over time. The Decon Project exists to change that, one effective decon at a time.
